Birthday dragon

Another Friday and another challenge at QKR Stampede. The theme for this one is paper piecing along with the usual anything goes.

The printed topper is from Hunkydory's Little book of cakes and bakes and the digi image is dragon (number 12603). I paper pieced his front and coloured the rest of him using Spectrum Noir Sparkle pens. Lion quilt

The theme for the challenge this week at QKR Stampede is quilting/stitching along with the usual anything goes.
I decided to make the design look like a quilt. Using Tattered Lace's Velvet Lace ruffle square die I cut a piece of pink card, cut it into four and glued it together again to make a reduced square. After rubbing the back of the frills using a ball embossing tool I matted a left over piece of design paper that I had printed off some time ago for a previous project onto this. The image called lion (number 14212) was coloured using Spectrum Noir pens. I fussy cut this leaving a margin round it and then added some faux stitching to it before attaching it to the card.

Netball

A friend asked me to make a card for her grand daughter who plays netball. I have some CD ROMs which contain thousands of clip art images so I superimposed the players over an image of a netball and then using word art added the greeting. After cutting it out using a die I matted it onto gold mirri card and coloured the girls using Promarkers.
Using a circular die I created an easel card and attached the above to it. I printed another clip art image and cut it out using a circular die and attached it to the base of the card. I then outlined it using gold peel off strips. I used two smaller versions of this image either side of the words '15 today' matted onto gold mirri card to create the stop for the easel.

The flowers were printed using Tattered Lace's Sweet Serenity Blissful Blooms CD ROM and then cut using the matching dies. The glass bowl was cut from packaging and silver mirri. This was then attached to the backing paper.
I used the Tattered Lace chamomile spray die to create the bouquet of flowers, doubling up on the flower heads and adding extra flowers to the spray. Promarkers were used to colour the spray of flowers.
Using a Tattered Lace ornamental with love die I cut the sentiment twice, colouring each cut piece with a different colour so that when one was placed on top of the other a dropped shadow could be formed.

Owl

My daughter has a friend who is owl mad so this is a card for her. I printed the owl from Dragons Lair Designs behind a frame called cinnamon spice torn frame 1 also from Dragons Lair Designs and coloured it using Promarkers. The background paper is also from Dragons Lair Designs and I matted and layered this onto black and then white card. The leaves were die cut from various scraps of paper using the common foliage Tattered Lace die and the sentiments were black peel offs.

Cupcake jump

Today sees the start of a new challenge at Crafty Cardmakers and this time the theme is pearls and/or gems.
I love the House Mouse images and as I haven't used one of the stamps for a long time I decided that it was about time that I did. This one is called cupcake jump.  coloured it using Promarkers and cut it out using an oval die. I then matted it onto pale yellow oval paper and a darker yellow rectangular piece of paper which in turn was matted onto white card. I added coloured pearls that matched the sprinkles on the cake to the pale yellow mat and a gold peel off to each corner of the dark yellow rectangle.

Juggling

The theme this week for the QKR Stampede challenge is anything goes with the twist of feathered friends.
I know that Easter has just been celebrated but when I saw this image called Juggling (number 24226) I just felt I had to use it on an Easter card - so here's getting in early for next year!
I made the oval card base using an essential oval Tattered Lace die and covered the front of the card with shiny crinkle paper. The image was coloured using Promarkers as was the sentiment (a Eureka digi number 3701). After cutting it out using a smaller die from the same set of oval dies I attached it to the card.

A pocket full of flowers

This week the theme for the QKR Stampede challenge is anything goes with the twist flowers.
I used the digi image smiling flowers (number 17002) and after colouring it using Promarkers I cut it out using a Tattered Lace pocket die. I added faux stitching using a permanent pen. I also added faux stitching to a square of white card before matting it onto the white card base. The pocket was attached using foam pads so that a bookmark could be slid into it. Card candi were attached at each corner of the pocket.
The bookmark was made using an old Double Do die and again the pieces were coloured using Promarkers. The sentiment was cut using dies from Tattered Lace's all occasions sentiments set.
