Relax - it's you birthday!

I don't have many male cards in my stock of finished cards which is sometimes a problem when my husband asks if I have a card he could send to one of his friends, so I thought I'd better make one or two. Here is the first.
On white card which had some sort of woven surface I used the "ink, blot, plot" method to create a faint background. The stamps used were two of Chocolate Baroque's landscape edges and I used distress inks. This I then matted and layered onto black mirri card and white card. A further strip of black mirri card was added to the left hand side.
The main image is Lili of the Valley's lazy afternoon and I coloured this using Promarkers and distress ink. I cut it out using a Spellbinders postage stamp die, coloured the edges with a black Promarker pen and attached it to the card using foam pads.
I made a banner and two mini labels from peel off letters, white card, black mirri card and thin ribbon. Finally I added some card candi.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:
Lili of the Valley - birthday card

Two owls

I have quite a collection of dies, so I thought I would try creating a card that used only dies, omitting any stamping or decoupage. Also my daughter has a friend who is crazy about owls.
I began by cutting  brown and grey core'dinations card stock and cream card so that they were the correct sizes to mat and layer. I then used a Spellbinders oval die to cut two ovals in the brown core'dinations cardstock. Positioning this over the grey core'dinations card stock I lined up a smaller die from the same set to cut ovals in the grey core'dinations cardstock. I wrapped cream ribbon round the brown cardstock and then matted and layered all three pieces of card. I added a bow to the ribbon strip.
From dark brown mirri card I cut out two owls using dies from Tattered Lace. I attached these to the card with gel glue to give a little bit of dimension. The ivy was cut from various shades of green mirri card using a Marianne Craftables die and positioned around the ovals. Finally I used Tattered Lace dies to cut out the sentiment from cream core'dinations cardstock.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:
   Allsorts - birds and feathers
Crafty Calendar - things with wings

Birthday wishes

I made this card for a female relative. The floral bouquet stamped image from Chocolate Baroque was coloured using Promarkers. Two of the flowers were restamped, cut out and decoupaged onto the original image. I cut out black card using a resplendant rectangle die from Spellbinders and used it to frame the image. This was then matted and layered with grey card and black card onto white card. I added brushed pewter stickles to the circles on the design. Finally I matted a sentiment onto black card and attached it to the card using foam pads.

I wish to enter this card into the following challenges:
Penny Black and More - blossoms and blooms

M is for ...

This week at Creative Corner we are asking you to use something on your project that begins with the letter of your first name. I have gone a bit overboard with my example - a Magnolia coloured in shades of Magenta and using lots of Matting and layering, each layer being cut out using a Spellbinders Majestic labels twentyfive die.
I began by cutting out magenta mirri card and matting this onto tissue paper which I had received as wrapping for a bunch of flowers and matting this onto off white hammered card. The next layer consisted of a paler mirri card matted onto darker tissue paper, obtained from the same bunch of flowers. The final layer was the digi stamp from Sparkle and Sprinkle. This was coloured using Promarkers and the edges dusted with distress ink. I finally added a sentiment which was matted onto the paler mirri card.

Guitar girl

Although a new stamp from Lili of the Valley this one called 'Annabel, Music to my ears' is fast becoming one of my favourites since I have grand daughters who all play instruments and I also attempted many years ago to play the guitar.
I began by cutting a circle of card slightly larger than the image and positioned it in the Couture Creations adagio embossing folder so that it created a 'faded' look to the music around where I was going to place the image on the white core'dinations cardstock. I matted and layered this embossed cardstock and black mirri card onto white card and attached peel off words underneath the music.
The image was coloured using Promarkers and cut out using a Spellbinders circle die. I matted it onto black mirri card cut out using a Spellbinders petite scalloped circle die.

Flower Power

There are a spring birthdays in my family so quite a few cards have to be made. For this one I began by matting and layering paper printed from Crafter's Companion Flower Fairies of the garden triple CD ROM and copper mirri card onto off white card. I also printed a border from the same CD ROM and this I matted and layered onto copper mirri card and green mirri card. I then cut two green mirri card flourishes using a die from the Tonic Ulysses butterfly set and these I attached on top of the border strip. I punched six daisy shapes and coloured them using Promarkers. These I assembled into three flowers, using a card candi for each centre.
The stamped image, from Joanna Sheen's House Mouse Designs spring collection of rubber stamps is also coloured using Promarkers and was matted onto copper mirri card. I matted a sentiment onto copper mirri card and attached this to the card along with mini green mirri card flourishes which were part of one of the victorian corners from Tattered Lace.

The sentiment from the same sheet was also dusted with distress ink and matted onto gold mirri card. The flowers, from Wild Orchid were coloured using Promarkers before attaching them to the card.

Easter bunny

I was experimenting with a computer graphics program and this bright yellow paper was one of the results. I think it is cheerful and springlike, so decided to use it as the background for this twisted easel card. The black peel offs around the edge I feel really bring the colour to life.
The main image is a digi stamp from La Pashe and I coloured is using Promarkers and distress ink. It was then matted onto mirri card before fixing it the the card. The happy Easter is die cut from mirri card using tattered lace dies.

Birthday tea

I wanted to make a bright, bold coloured card for a young child, so I chose to use the three primary colours - blue, red and yellow - and glitter card.
I folded the card to make an easel card and attached paper from Papermania that I have had for some time to the front of the card and the base. I used two pieces for the front to allow the card to fold easily.
The digi stamp from Melgen's Designs was coloured using Promarkers, cut out using a Spellbinders grand scalloped circle die and the upper part dusted with distress ink. This was matted and layered onto glitter silk core'dinations cardstock and core couture core'dinations cardstock, both having been cut out with scalloped circle dies. This was then stuck to the lower front fold of the easel card.
The easel stop was made by matting and layering glitter silk and core couture core'dinations cardstock onto white card, all cut using Spellbinders scalloped oval dies, and attached to the base using foam pads.
The sentiment was cut from core'dinations cardstock using tattered lace dies.

Bluebells

I have had the stamps from Elusive Images, now Chocolate baroque, for some time. When I look back at my first use of them I wonder how I could have been satisfied with the resulting card - so there has been some improvement in both layout and colouring!
I matted bluebell coloured paper onto white card and edged it with thin strips of green peel offs. The border of repeated mini bluebells was coloured using Promarkers. I then dusted the lower half with distress ink before matting it onto green spotted core'dinations cardstock..
The main image was also coloured using Promarkers and the edges dusted with distress ink. I then went round the edges with the ink pad. I cut out a piece of the spotted core'dinations cardstock the same size as this image and fixed this at an angle on the card. I then attached the border and then the main image was attached with foam pads so that it mirrored the green square.
The butterfly, from the same set of stamps was attached using glue gel. Finally I finished the card with a sentiment cut from core'dinations cardstock using tattered lace dies.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:
   Eureka Stamps - spring flowers

I find it hard to resist the Lili of the Valley stamps and this one called Annabel - upside down is one from their latest set. I can just picture each of my grand daughters attempting this. I have coloured it using Promarkers and matted it onto mirri card cut using a Spellbinders floral oval die. Around the edge of the card I have used strips of happy birthday peel offs.

Waterlilies

The theme this week for the Creative Corner Challenge is April showers bring May flowers and we want you to use either water or flowers on your creation. With the warm weather that we are now experiencing bringing all different flowering seasons together I thought waterlilies seemed the appropriate choice and I’m sure my young grand daughter would appreciate the mice!
I found some previously printed paper of waterlilies and thought it would make a suitable border for this image. I fixed it to cerise core’dinations cardstock and attached wine coloured ribbon to either side of it. The whole was then matted and layered with darker core’dinations cardstock and white card.

The image from Joanna Sheen’s House Mouse Designs rubber stamps was coloured using Promarkers and matted onto wine mirri card. I fixed it to the card with foam pads. I then added a bow, gems and a sentiment to the lower ribbon.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:

Bunny fun

Here is card for one of my grandson's, although I might save it for my son as I can remember him doing this and encouraging his younger sister to do likewise, not that either of them ended up flat on the floor as one of these rabbits has done.
I sanded blue core'dinations cardstock and after matting it on to white card used gold peel offs as a border. The image is from Joanna Sheen's Happy Hoppers set of House Mouse stamps and was coloured using Promarkers. I then matted it onto blue mirri card which had been cut out using a Spellbinders lattice rectangle die. This was then matted onto whitewash core'dinations cardstock so that it showed through the lattice work. I stamped, coloured and cut out the prostrate rabbit and attached it with glue gel to the lower corner of the main image. Finally I die cut the sentiment from gold mirri card using tattered lace dies.

I would like to enter this card into the following challenges:
Ooh La La Creations - for a child
